CURRENT SUPPORT HIGHLIGHTS
updated 6/30/08

Support for Men who are Supporting Women
Second Thursday of the Month,
6:00-8:00pm.
If you’re a man who is caretaking for a woman with cancer, this is the group for you. Join other men for this once-a-month support group to openly discuss how it is to have a wife, girlfriend or daughter with cancer.

Individual Counseling Sessions

TWC is now offering individual, couples and family counseling. Counseling sessions will be offered at six to eight sessions per participant or caregiver. If you are interested in scheduling an appointment with one of our licensed therapists, call our main office, 404-843-1880.

Kids’ Circle
Scheduled Tuesdays, 6:30-8:00pm.
RSVP or call us for more information 404-843-1880.
A 4-week (consecutive Tuesdays) support program for children 5-12 who have a parent or grandparent with cancer.  Children participating in this program will:

  • Learn about changes caused by illness in the family through songs, games, and creative activities.
  • Learn to identify their own feelings about cancer & how it affects them personally.
  • Learn strategies for coping with stress and ways to take care of themselves.

Newcomers Orientation
If you are new to the community, we encourage
you to attend a Newcomers' Orientation meeting. These meetings, open to adults with cancer, family and friends,
are typically led by a cancer survivor and last an hour. There will be an overview of the entire program. Meetings are held every Monday at 10:00am. No RSVP required.

Weekly Support Groups
Ongoing groups for people with cancer and/or primary caregivers are the heart of the program.  In Participant Groups, people with cancer offer support to one another, explore new ways of dealing with the stresses of cancer and learn techniques to become partners with their health care team. In Family/ Caregiver Groups, people explore ways of supporting their loved ones in their fight for recovery from cancer, while getting some much needed personal support for themselves.

RSVP or call us for more information 404-843-1880.

Networking Groups
Networking groups are monthly or bimonthly groups that are diagnosis and/or situation specific. These drop–in groups offer people an opportunity to share common feelings and concerns relevant to their situation. Networking groups are only open to individuals with cancer, with the exception of our Blood Cancer group, which welcomes caregivers.
No RSVP required.  Groups Include:
• Breast Cancer - 2nd & 4th Wednesdays
• Metastatic BC - 2nd & 4th Mondays
• Blood Cancers - 2nd Thursdays
• Young Survivors - 1st Thursdays
